But the angels said to them,
“Do not be afraid, I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people.”
Luke 2:10
The angels brought the Good News that God’s son had been born. Jesus teaches us that we should value and love one another. By our example, our children are nurtured and encouraged to be kind and compassionate, showing God’s love to those around them and enabling everyone to flourish.
Everyone is included in the St Edburg’s family, inspired to make a positive change and encouraged to interact with the community around us.
All are valued, all are loved.
'Physically educated persons should be defined as those who have learned to arrange their lives in such a way that the physical activities they freely engage in make a distinctive contribution to their wider flourishing'. James McAllister Stirling University.

St Edburg's Girls Football on BBC Radio Oxford
We are proud to have one of the largest girls football teams in the North Oxfordshire Area. Our team is run by Mrs Hall and Mr Marshall. Mr Marshall believes that the way forward is to have passionate and dedicated staff to develop the offering of girls football in school.
Mrs Hall - a football player herself believes that the team is developing girls confidence, "they realise as a group of girls, we CAN do this, I AM good, I CAN practice and get better"
Maguette from Year 5 told reporters "I didn't play for a long time. They put me in goal and then I really liked it"
Rosa from Year 5 said "I'm over the moon. If I'm playing with boys they never really pass to the girls"
Violet from Year 6 talks about the equality in school; "I think I'm obsessed...Girls can have the same ability as boys, I think it would be unfair if only boys played"

At St Edburg’s, our vision for the teaching of Physical Education is to encourage and enable students to fulfil their potential. We aim to give children the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact in their own physical health and well-being. We want to inspire children, to allow them to flourish and to enjoy themselves, with the aim of developing a passion for lifelong involvement in physical activity and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We deliver a broad and balanced range of activities encompassing all areas of the National Curriculum, allowing children to participate in intra- and inter-school competition through our partnership with North Oxfordshire School Sports. Our aim is for the experiences our children have to teach them to cope with the competitive nature of sport, including individual and team based physical activities.
We strongly believe that Physical Education is a powerful tool in equipping children with many life skills, and we build these into our Physical Education in a number of ways; one of which is the School Games Values. The six values of passion, belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork were developed by young people within the North Oxfordshire School Sports Partnership to identify what the experience of school sport should be built around; and these values are celebrated in all physical activity that we do at St Edburg’s, and across the wider curriculum.
Physical Education encourages children to lead, to listen and to be sensitive to those around them. At St Edburg’s we are keen to foster these skills and our leadership programme offers opportunities for this, such as Young Leaders, Sports Captains, Coaches and Match Reporters. We aim to offer a wide range of opportunities for children in school sport, promoting an increase self-esteem and positive mental health, developing physical confidence, gaining problem solving skills, and much more
